The Tremalzo Big Tour is the MTB legend of Lake Garda – a pilgrimage every biker should make at least once. From the Ledro Valley, the climb follows the ancient WWI military road with breathtaking switchbacks up to Passo Tremalzo at 1,833 m, the true rooftop of the Garda. The dirt descent with vertiginous lake views is the well-earned reward for every altitude metre gained.
Highlights
- Passo Tremalzo (1,833 m) – the rooftop of Lake Garda, with views over both shores
- WWI military road – historic route along Austro-Hungarian trenches
- Rifugio Garda at Passo Tremalzo – essential alpine refreshment stop before the descent
Practical tips
Demanding tour (1,425 m D+ in 46 km): start with a 100% battery. The dirt descent can be technical on a loaded bike – set tyres to medium-low pressure for better grip. Rifugio Garda at the pass is the only refreshment stop after Ledro.
